Agents need two things from your Console configuration: the feature has to be enabled, and Console needs at least one model connection to run tasks with. Both are deployment settings, so you set them where you configure Console, in the YAML configuration file or as environment variables, and restart Console.

Prerequisites

Support for OpenAI and Amazon Bedrock is coming in our next release later in November

Enable the feature

Set enable_agents to true. It’s false by default, which hides the agents UI and API for everyone.

Connect a model

A model connection tells Console which provider to call, with which key and which model. Add one or more under models. Each needs an id and an api_key; everything else has a default.
Connections are read-only in Console. The Models page and the model picker list them by name, and never show the key. To change a connection, update the configuration and restart Console.
Add a second connection with a smaller model, such as claude-haiku-4-5, for frequent or lightweight tasks. Pick the connection per agent.

Check the setup

Restart Console and sign in as an administrator. Use the toggle at the top of the sidebar to switch from Console to Agentic: the agents home page opens. If the toggle isn’t there, enable_agents isn’t set on the running instance. Then go to Models. It lists your connections by name, provider and model, without the key. If a connection is missing, Console didn’t load that part of the models configuration: check the Console logs for a configuration error, such as a missing api_key or a duplicate id. You’re ready to create and run your first agent.
